A subdomain is a web address, that is under a main, or a root domain name. An example is something.domain.com, in which domain.com is the main domain name, while "something" is the subdomain below it. Every single subdomain can have its own site and records i.e. aside from employing the domain name as part of the whole web address, a subdomain can be totally independent and even hosted by a different service provider. Using a subdomain could be very beneficial if you'd like to have different web sites which are connected in some way. For example, you may have a web-based store under the main domain and a forum under a subdomain in order to provide means for your customers to ask questions or share thoughts regarding your products. The main advantage of using a subdomain rather than a subfolder is that the websites are going to be separated, so you're able to update one of them or perform maintenance not affecting the other.

Subdomains in Web Hosting

Each and every web hosting plan we provide will allow you to create many subdomains with no more than a few clicks in your hosting CP. They are going to be listed in the area in which you create them and grouped under the main domain for more convenience, to help you easily keep track of them all. Additionally, you can access many functions for any of the subdomains using right-click context menus - for example, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the website files, and much more. While creating a new subdomain, you will also have numerous options that you can pick from - define the default access folder, create custom error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or choose if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. How many subdomains you are going to have is completely up to you because we haven't limited this feature for any of our packages.
